Fun Day

What a great day. This morning me and dgt (Abby) and nephew (Kirby) went and ate Chinese. When we got home, a girlfriend was here with her 2 boys and we had a rip roaring pool party. I am worn out. On next 4:30, the sky turned dark and thunder started rumbling. We packed it up and came in.

Sure enough, we had ourselves a storm, complete with thunder, lightening, wind and 1.75 inches of rain. Now when I was a child, my mama said when it was storming that it was "The Lords Work." We turned off appliances and sat quietly until it passed. No using the phone or taking a bath. I still follow that policy to this day. I dont like any activity when it is thundering and lightening. So I laid down on the couch and waited for Wayne to get home. I let the boy play his hand held video game. It passed in about 45 minutes.

Our biggest tomato is broken and several plants are blown over including the butterfly bush. We will just have to wait til it dries out to see what we can do. I think everything will live, just may need some pruning and staking. We needed the rain.

Supper was cereal, Raisin Bran for me and Cocoa Pebbles for Wayne. My girlfriends youngest is spending the night with Kirby and the kids had cereal and pop tarts.

Here is a gospel song me and Abby sang today (from the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack)
Some bright morning when this life is over
I'll fly away
To a home on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away
I'll fly away oh glory I'll fly away (in the morning)
When I die hallelujah by and by I'll fly away

My Dad used to tell me that Rip Van Winkle woke up and started bowling in heaven when we heard thunder. Too funny! -Jackie

I remember stopping those things during a storm, too. Nowadays, we watch the TV coverage of storms, and only turn it off if it's thundering real close. We turn off our computers and unplug the internet and such, though

I'm glad you had such a fun day. I love that song, too.

I had Cocoa Pebbles for lunch last week. Threw some raspberries in along with the cereal. Saw that you're in SC. We were married there and our son was born there...Fort Jackson. Went back a few years ago and found the duplex where we lived. Hope the storm didn't cause too much damage. When it's raining hard with no lightening, my grandson loves to play in the raindrops.
