Lovely Rainy Day

Finally, a rainy day. We need it so desparately. On top of that, it's cool!! Feels like fall.

Not much going on or changing in the garden. My butterfly bush is still throwing blooms here and there.

A friend gave me starts of hardy ageratum. I really like this late summer color.

The jukebox in my head is playing "In the Garden"
I come to the garden alone,
while the dew is still on the roses.
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
the Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me,
and He talks with me,
and He tells me I am His own;
and the joy we share as we tarry there,
none other has ever known

Late September

It's still pretty warm and humid here. We got a little rain the other day. Fall is in the air, though. My back yard is covered with pine straw.

Here is a yellow begonia. I plan to bring it in for the winter. My pink and red cosmos grew tall but took too long to bloom. I got tired of looking at them and pulled them up. Here is a little one that I missed. Finally!!!
I'm loving this yellow sunflower. I must remember to do a late planting again next year.

This cleome is still blooming. I am amazed at how many seed pods these make.

Today will be spent working inside and getting things in order.

The jukebox in my head is playing "I've had the time of my life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warrens.

I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you

Post Birthday Happiness

Greetings. This has been a good week. I had my 43rd birthday!! Here is a little birdhouse I got from one of my girlfriends. This little cat is adorable. I didnt quite get the whole length of that long tail and plus MY cat, Thomas was trying to see if it was real.

I had my weigh in Thursday and had lost about 1 lb. I'm ok with that. I think I have lost 2 more since then but I will make the results official at the next WI. My girlfriend that I am doing this with is doing great!!

I've been putting my living room back together. I painted one of my bookcases black and now I am reloading it. We are going through the books and making sure we are only keeping the 'good ones'. My daughter and I share a love for books.

No rain to speak of, just sprinkles. I have 4 new mums to plant (gift from another girlfriend) and I saw tonight that the pansies are coming in at Lowes. Oh now to decide what colors to use this year.

The Jukebox in my head is playing 'My boyfriends Back'. This is one of my Sweatin to the Oldies aerobic songs and of course it gets stuck in my head.

He's been gone for such a long time
(Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back)
Now he's back and things'll be fine
(Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back)

Possible rain

Weather Channel says we may get some rain starting tomorrow. Cross your fingers.

I liked the way this yellow gerber looked beside this little boy statue. I picked him up at a yard sale some time back and the paint is peeling off. See the new cushions on the bench back there? This is where I sit and wait for Wayne to get home from work. The cushions make it so much more comfortable. These flowers are some that were hiding behind the zinnias. That balsom has to go soon.

Ha! I havent seen my bunnies in months. Now, if the snapdragons will ever come out, I can plant all around them again. Yes, the one bunny has a broken ear........it happens.

We made a home made bbq chicken pizza for supper. Talk about good. Those store bought pizza crusts are pretty tasty.

Ok...I have been walking daily and doing some Richard Simmons. I can get through 4 songs on his video (well......I cant do all of the third song, I have to rest but then I start back). I'm stll reading "Snow Falling On Cedars". I will probably finish it tomorrow. It's interesting.

Fun news! Abby and I went to Bath and Body Works and got a few smelly-good things. On my last receipt there was a number to call for a survey and get $10 off your next purchase of $30. I called and was given 2 questions to answer. That was it. And I got a code and today I saved 10 dollars!!Whooo--hooo!! Oh and my receipt today---it has another survey. I will call again for sure.

The jukebox in my head is playing "Blackbird" by The Beatles.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Tis the Season

His Team:

Meanwhile, I put up a new feeder in my new bed. I can see this one from the kitchen window. Several birds have found it already.

I will be showing some pictures from a side bed now that all the zinnias are out. Here is a little patch of vincas.

We have had a wonderful weekend. Mostly stayed at home. Wayne worked quite a bit in his workshop and I piddled and puttered.

We had boiled shrimp, boiled potatoes and corn on the cob for supper with fat free/sugar free chocolate Jello pudding for dessert. Very tasty.

I'm reading "Snow Falling on Cedars". It is good so far.

The jukebox in my head is playing what may be my all time favorite song "Southern Cross" by Crosby,Stills and Nash.
Got out of town on a boat goin' to southern islands,
Sailing a reach before a followin' sea.
She was makin' for the trades on the outside,
And the downhill run to Papeete Bay
Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas.
We got eighty feet of the waterline
Nicely making way.In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you,
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away.
Think about how many times I have fallen.
Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'.
What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten.
I have been around the world,
Lookin' for that woman, girl,Who knows love can endure,
And you know it will (and you know it will).

Trumpet

Finally!! The scale moved downward. -2.5lbs!!!!!!! I am officially excited.

Lets see...this is a brug, I believe. I think those yellow bells are so pretty.

In other news, we continue to pull out the dead and dying. It's so dry that I am having to use the sprinkler again. We planted out brocolli, cabbage, carrots, radish and lettuce in the raised beds. So far, so good. Except maybe a slug problem which is the one pest that I fight with chemicals.

I am cleaning house today and at present listening to Barry Manilow. I love " I write the songs"

I write the songs that make the whole world sing.
I write the songs of love and special things.
I write the songs that make the young girls cry.
I write the songs, I write the songs.

September Morn

Havent weighed in yet for the week. My goal for this week is to decrease my over all fat consumption. I found some caramel rice cakes with zero fat grams. That gives me something to crunch on in place of chips. The exercise is going good. I rediscovered one of my favorite foods--stir fry. Tonight the stir fry will include some scallops. Delish!

Here is one of my few zinnias that's left. This big bee was enjoying it.

Volunteer vincas. I hope they come back next year.
America's Next Top Model starts a new cycle tonight. The models will be 5'7 or under. One thing that I like about Tyra is that she always stands up against the industry and says that being 1o feet tall and weighing 100 lbs is not natural and should not be a standard of beauty. I wont jump on that soapbox right now (I'll save it for later).

As you may have guessed, the jukebox in my head is playing 'September Morn' by Neil Diamond. I like his music.

September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way
